Joint Learning Fund
What is the Joint Learning Fund?
The Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage (JLN) instituted the Joint Learning Fund (JLF) to further foster learning exchanges among the member countries by technical and financial resources needed in their journey to achieve UHC. JLF is supported with funding from Rockefeller Foundation.
ACCESS Health International, Inc. currently manages the JLF and performs an in-depth review of the submitted grant proposals. The ultimate decision for approval of the grant lies with the JLN secretariat. The secretariat consists of ACCESS Health International Inc, Results for Development Institute, World Bank, GIZ, IHPP– Thailand and Center for Health & Social Sciences.
The JLF is accessible to all member countries of the JLN. Grants of up to $50,000 are considered for funding.
Activities that can be supported include:
Exchange programs between countries to gain experiences in specific areas for universal health coverage (e.g. monitoring systems, provider payment mechanisms, quality of care, use of technology).
Engagement of experts to work with the member countries in specific areas as per the country requirements.
Study tours and secondaments for capacity building of individuals and teams involved in planning and designing of the reform process.
Regional events to better understand and analyze challenges facing two or more countries in a region and explore opportunities for collaboratives.
Research related to planning, design, implementation and pilot of the reform
Applications may be submitted by representatives of government or other affiliated institutions in JLN member countries. If submitted by an institution outside the government or health insurance scheme, clear demand from and link to government policymakers and implementers must be demonstrated.
JLF can support in development of proposals and in identifying contact persons in other countries, experts etc. For submission of applications, questions or comments please contact joint.learning@accessh.org
