The objective of Fiscal Policy for Public Health collaborative is to discuss the use of fiscal policy—such as implementing taxes on tobacco sales—to discourage consumption and lead to positive health outcomes. This could entail understanding:

• Country experience in feasibility, implementation, achievements and challenges in using fiscal policy for public health
• Diagnostic tools for evaluating and strengthening tax policies for public health
• Other issues such as benefits, political economy, ease of introduction of a tobacco tax, or how to handle challenging issues that arise such as the smuggling of tobacco across borders
