Essential ingredients for UHC: Political and technical leadership

This year is a pivotal moment for development. The Millennium Development Goals will draw to a close in September, and planning is underway to develop the next round of sustainable development goals.

The most recent Commonwealth Health Partnerships publication focuses on bringing together valuable insights from a wide range of stakeholders on the provision of universal health coverage in the post-2015 sustainable development framework.

Amanda Folsom, Director of the Joint Learning Network Coordination team contributed a piece on the importance of political and technical leadership. She writes, "health spending is increasingly pooled, with diminishing reliance on direct out-of-pocket payments. This trend presents opportunities for greater equity and improved health outcomes."
