Implementing and Measuring the Performance of Primary Care Networks

About the Learning Exchange

The Primary Health Care Performance Initiative (PHCPI) is dedicated to transforming the global state of primary health care (PHC), leveraging PHC measurement to catalyze improvements. The Community of Practice (COP) is an initiative of PHCPI to promote learning and sharing of best practices among a community of policymakers and practitioners to improve knowledge and share information about how to strengthen public health and PHC. The Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage (JLN) convenes network members for productive and high-impact practitioner-to-practitioner learning exchanges on a range of health systems topics, often related to health finance or primary health care service delivery.

Under the partnership of the PHCPI and JLN, the “Implementing and Measuring the Performance of Primary Care Networks (PCNs)” learning exchange (March 2022 – November 2022) will convene individual health care professionals from across disciplines and three country “implementation case” teams from Colombia, Ghana, and Kenya in cross-country virtual learning to identify and adapt global best practices in the design and operationalization of PCNs in their respective contexts. The three implementation case teams will be composed of a group of participants dedicated to support the implementation of reforms related to PCNs in their respective country. Each team will also be supported by a group of peer learners, individual PHC leaders and practitioners interested in action-oriented learning, from other PHCPI countries. Through monthly learning checks, each country’s case team discusses their progress, challenges, and key questions. Once a month, all teams and peer learners come together through a cross-country virtual exchange to troubleshoot common challenges and learn on a relevant theme of shared interest. The learning exchange will additionally leverage the PHCPI Online Forum for ongoing dialogue and facilitate focused sessions on common interests to support the implementation case teams and the community in the sharing of learning and best practices.
